English QWERTY keyboards

There are three types of keyboard layouts in the English-speaking world:
  • The US keyboard layout is used in the United States, English-speaking Canada and Australia
  • The UK/Irish keyboard is used in Great Britain and Ireland
  • The US International keyboard is used by English speakers in Europe.
Dell makes the three English qwerty keyboard layouts but only the UK/Irish and US international are available to customers in France. Here are some of the main differences between them.

UK/Irish English QWERTY keyboard

The quote mark " is shift 2
The British pound sterling £ is shift 3
The US dollar sign $ is shift 4
The Euro sign € is Ctrl + Alt + 4, pressed at same time

The email "at" sign @ is shift 2
The pound or hash # is shift 3
The US dollar sign $ is shift 4
The British pound sterling £ is <Right Alt>  4
The Euro sign € is <Right Alt> 5

To type the British pound sterling £ sign, press the Alt button and type 0163 on the number pad, then release the Alt button

To get the Euro sign "€", press Alt then type 128, and release release the Alt key
